How do I use ActiveImage Protector with Wasabi?

Wasabi has been validated for use with Actiphy's ActiveImage Protector. ActiveImage Protector is a backup and disaster recovery solution that supports both physical and virtual (Hyper-V/VMware), Windows/Linux, and On-Premise/Cloud environments.   • An active Wasabi account

Configuration

Backup directly to Wasabi

ActiveImage Protector 2022 provides a Direct-To-Cloud Backup feature to save the created backups directly to Wasabi cloud storage (“Wasabi”).

Follow the steps below to specify Wasabi as the destination storage for directly saving the created backup files.

 

1. Before starting the configuration of a backup task, please go to Help > About to check the version information of ActiveImage Protector 2022.

Supported Versions:

  • Product Version: 6.0.0.7292 or above
  • Agent Version:    6.0.2.7482 or above
  • Console Version:  6.0.2.7482 or above

2. Select a backup source on ActiveImage Protector 2022 and click Next.

3. In the Destination tab, click Select folder …

4. Enter the credential information for accessing Wasabi and click Connect.
  • Access Key Id
  • Secret Key
  • Region - Region of your bucket
  • Specify Provider - Select wasabisys from the dropdown.

Note: This config example discusses the use of Wasabi's us-west-1 storage region. To use other Wasabi storage regions, please select the appropriate Wasabi region from the dropdown options.
 
5. Select the backup destination folder (bucket and subfolder) which is created on Wasabi in advance and click Select folder.

6. Please make sure the destination is correctly selected, and click Next.

7. Select the backup task type and specify further details, then click OKIn this example, Schedule Backup is selected.

8. Enable retention policy and send email options if needed, then click Next.

9. Please check the configured settings and click Done.

10. The following pop-up dialog is displayed.

Click Yes to start the task immediately. Click No to go back to Dashboard window.

Click Cancel to go back to the wizard instead of completing the configured setting.

11. ActiveImage Protector’s Dashboard provides real time monitoring of the status of backup task execution.

12. Upon completion of the backup task, go to Image Manager > Select Folder… and access the folder in Wasabi to check the backup image file.

12. For the security purpose, the backup image file name is displayed in UUID. Click on a backup image file, and check the information of the backup source computer.

13. Login to your Wasabi and confirm the backup image file(s) inside your specified folder.

Replicate backups to Wasabi

14. Select a backup source on ActiveImage Protector 2022 and click Next.

15. Click Select folder … to specify a backup destination (first destination) which is not a cloud storage or a SFTP, then click Next.

16. Select Schedule Backup and specify further details, then click OK.

17. Select Unconfigured in the Post-backup Process - “Replication” option.

18. Enter the credential information for accessing Wasabi and click Connect.

19. Specify the replication destination folder which is created on Wasabi in advanced and click Done.
